    Volunteer Board Treasurer

Project Street Vet: Board Treasurer Opportunity

Project Street Vet is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that envisions a world where veterinary care is accessible to every pet family. Our mission is to empower veterinary teams to deliver professional, non-judgmental medical care & support to pet families experiencing homelessness and housing vulnerability. Leading with our motto of “No Judgment. Just Help.” we seek out and assist pet families who need it most. More information on Project Street Vet can be found here: projectstreetvet.org.

Founded by Dr. Kwane Stewart, CNN’s 2023 Hero of the Year, Project Street Vet is growing, and we’re looking for new board members to help us expand our impact.

We are seeking a financially savvy and engaged volunteer to serve as Treasurer on our nonprofit Board of Directors. The Treasurer plays an important role in safeguarding the organization’s financial health, promoting fiscal accountability, and supporting its long-term sustainability.

    We’re especially seeking individuals with:

✔️ Experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, or a related field

✔️ Ability to interpret financial statements and communicate financial information clearly

✔️ Strong judgment, integrity, and attention to detail

✔️ A passion for the mission of Project Street Vet

This is an opportunity to contribute your financial expertise to a mission-driven organization and help ensure its continued strength and impact. Project Street Vet is especially interested in applications that reflect and represent the diversity of the communities we work in and the clients we serve. We welcome applications from individuals who have lived experience being unhoused with a pet.

    Expectations:

    • Serve as Chair of the Finance Committee.
    • Monitor overall financial health, liquidity, reserves, and significant financial risks.
    • Present regular financial updates to the Board in a clear, accessible manner.
    • Review and help the Board understand regular financial reports, including the balance sheet, income and expense statements, cash flow, and budget-to-actual performance.
    • Ensure that appropriate financial policies, internal controls, and procedures are in place and periodically reviewed.
    • Attend 4 virtual board meetings per year (usually Wednesdays, 5–7 PM PT)
    • Monthly time commitment of approximately 5-10 hours for meetings and individual work. Attend 1 full-day board retreat per year
    • Contribute to the organization in whatever way is most feasible and impactful for the individual board member; we recognize that monetary donations are just one of many ways to help our organization grow.
    • Serve as an advocate and ambassador for the organization
    • Work in good faith with staff and other board members as partners towards achievement of our goals

👉 To apply, please send your resume and a brief email to info@projectstreetvet.org with the subject line of Board Treasurer Position. Please explain why our mission resonates with you and why you’re interested in joining the board. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until December 15, 2026.

Thank you for helping us bring “No Judgment. Just Help.” to more people and pets in need.
