CommunityHealth relies on volunteers to keep all aspects of our volunteer-based free health clinic running, including in our full-service lab.
Lab tech volunteers are trained to perform a variety of venipuncture techniques and collect blood and urine specimens from patients. Benefits include direct patient interaction, hands-on experience in a supportive setting, and the opportunity to ensure access to care for all - supporting CommunityHealth's mission of serving those without essential health care.
For those who show interest and promise, we offer opportunities for growth within the lab department, with the potential promotion to shift leader, a role for which training will include use of our EMR and the Quest Laboratory internet portal, along with supervision skills, as you will support your team of lab techs, some of whom may be new trainees.
In addition to our main location in West Town, CommunityHealth operates three microsite locations. To bring care closer to home, we opened small-scale clinics within community organizations local to our patients. Microsite locations listed below:
