The American Red Cross is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers to serve as Disaster Duty Officers supporting Central and Southeastern Washington.
Disaster Duty Officers are the first point of contact when local disasters occur, helping coordinate the Red Cross response to home fires, storms, and other emergencies. This role is critical in ensuring individuals and families receive support when they need it most.
We are especially looking for volunteers who:
- Are available for weekend coverage (not required)
- Can commit to 3–4 twelve-hour shifts per month
- Stay calm and organized in fast-paced situations
- Have strong communication and problem-solving skills
As a Disaster Duty Officer, you may:
- Receive and manage emergency response requests
- Coordinate with local responders and Red Cross volunteers
- Support disaster response teams and deployment efforts
- Help connect affected families with immediate assistance
This position is remote with full training provided by the American Red Cross. No previous disaster response experience is required.
We are especially seeking volunteers who are bilingual in English and Spanish to help support and connect with our diverse community.
