Can you imagine life without literacy? How would you...
You can make a difference by volunteering 1.5 hours per week to help adults learn to read, write, or speak English. The Community Literacy Council provides comprehensive tutor training for volunteers, usually in January, May, and September. Most of our adult students are learning English as a second language.
Our next training sessions will take place virtually via Zoom on the following dates:

You can find more information about volunteering:
Volunteers work one-on-one as an English as a second language tutor with adults, 18 years or older. Each tutoring session lasts 1.5 hours per week. Preparation time is typically 30 - 60 minutes each week. You are able to pick your learner from a waiting list that is suitable for your schedule. You tutor your learner in-person in a public location (typically a library), or via Zoom, or hybrid. The majority of our learners want to learn conversational English although some need help with reading, writing, and vocabulary. You do not need to speak another language to tutor.
