    About JYC

The Jerusalem Youth Chorus (JYC) is an Israeli-Palestinian music and dialogue project raising the voices of young leaders from East and West Jerusalem to the global stages of America’s Got Talent, TED, and beyond. Through the co-creation of music and the sharing of stories, JYC empowers young singers from East and West Jerusalem to speak and sing their truths as they become leaders in their communities and inspire singers and listeners around the world. Even in times of war, JYC continues to meet, and its singers’ commitment to each other, and the power of their voices raised in harmony, has only grown.

The Jerusalem Youth Chorus is far more than a music ensemble. We are building a youth movement of Palestinians and Israelis raising our voices for peace, justice, inclusion and equality. Singing together creates a container for us to have hard conversations that transform the way we see ourselves, one another, and the world around us. We weave our stories into powerful performances that inspire vision and action for a shared future.

JYC is currently registered as a nonprofit both in Jerusalem and the US. Because our staff is distributed across Jerusalem, Washington, D.C., and Boston, the student must be comfortable working remotely.

    About the Position

The Development & Operations Volunteer at the Jerusalem Youth Chorus reports to the Director of Development, and assists with all efforts related to building fundraising infrastructures and systems, administrative tasks, and individual and institutional giving. Regular duties will include:

    • Data Entry & Reporting
    • Donor Research
    • Reviewing/Processing Acknowledgement Letters
    • Grant Research & Tracking
    • Collaborate with our team in Jerusalem to obtain content that enhances our storytelling to US-based stakeholders
    • Support the Director of Development in the creation and maintenance of a development communications calendar

The Development & Operations volunteer can expect to use the following software platforms:

    • Google Workspace
    • WhatsApp
    • Windfall donor screening platform
    • CueBox CRM
    • Givebutter
    • MailChimp
    • Zoom

This volunteer can expect to gain and/or strengthen the following skills:

    • Internal and external communications
    • Data entry
    • Use of CRMs
    • The prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship of individual donors
    • Understanding grant cycles and applications
    • Creating compelling storytelling and asks

Because JYC is a small organization, there is an opportunity to cater this volunteer to a student's skills and/or areas of interest, including the intersection of development and content marketing.

This position offers flexible working hours, as long as at least 3-5 hours each week overlap remotely with the Director of Development and Founder & Artistic Director’s schedules.

    Qualifications:

    • A passion for using music and dialogue for social justice and peace
    • Access to your own laptop/computer with a reliable internet connection
    • Must be comfortable working remotely, and self-motivated to independently complete work in a timely manner
    • An interest in nonprofit philanthropy
