Job Title: Human Resources (HR) Volunteer
Location: Remote (with optional in-person support as needed)
Reports to: HR Lead
Commitment: Flexible (recommended 5–10 hours/week)

FOUND is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals navigating life’s “pauses” — including relocation, visa status constraints, caregiving responsibilities, and transitional identity shifts — through community, connection, skill-building, and creative expression. Role Summary
As an HR Volunteer at F.O.U.N.D., you’ll help build and strengthen our human resource systems to support volunteers and core team members alike. This role is critical in ensuring that our volunteer community feels welcomed, supported, aligned with organizational values, and equipped to contribute meaningfully to our mission. You’ll have flexibility to shape processes while making a lasting impact on the organization’s growth and culture.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding
- Develop and maintain volunteer role descriptions, intake materials, and recruitment materials.
- Review incoming volunteer applications and help match volunteers with appropriate roles or projects.
- Conduct or support volunteer orientations and onboarding sessions.
- Track volunteer skills, interests, availability, and engagement.
HR Systems & Documentation
- Maintain an organized volunteer database (contact info, hours, roles, skills).
- Help draft, update, and implement basic HR policies and procedures including volunteer agreements, confidentiality guidelines, time-tracking expectations, and channels for feedback.
- Create or refine documentation like organizational charts, volunteer handbooks, and training materials.
Volunteer Engagement & Support
- Serve as a point of contact for volunteer HR-related questions or guidance.
- Assist with scheduling check-ins and feedback conversations to ensure volunteers feel supported and aligned with their role.
- Help craft volunteer recognition programming (acknowledgements, testimonials, badges or small rewards).
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with program leads, operations, and leadership to align HR practices with organizational priorities and culture.
- Help ensure clear, consistent communication of role expectations, organizational values, and volunteer resources.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Passion for F.O.U.N.D.’s mission of supporting individuals through life transitions.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
- Organizational mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a small team.
Preferred
- Prior experience in human resources, volunteer management, nonprofit operations, or people coordination.
- Familiarity with HR software, spreadsheets, or volunteer databases.
- Experience or interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) best practices.
- Cross-cultural communication experience and empathy for transitional lived experiences.
