    Grant Writing Research Assistant

    Housing Options & Planning Enterprises, Inc., (H.O.P.E.) goal is to empower residence; targeted to maintain homeownership, improve financial well-being and assist those residents experiencing economic hardship maintaining homeownership. H.O.P.E. is a HUD-Approved housing nonprofit organization. Our mission is to ensure equal access to housing and capital for all persons through counseling, education, advocacy, lending and community revitalization. H.O.P.E. offers a wide range of services designed to foster self-sufficiency, wealth building, and housing that meets the needs of the community.

    Responsibilities:

    • Research community needs and how agency can help fill community needs with funding.
    • Enter and monitor data to maintain list of new grant opportunities, constantly ensuring information is up to date.
    • Prepare grant proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, incorporating feedback, and obtaining approvals
    • Meet proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
    • Build and enhance our existing grants and funding database that support the organizations’ vision and programs.
    • Draft letters of inquiry for identified funding matches.
    • Create and maintain relationships with community resources, referrals sources, agencies, associations, local and state government, and federal resources.
    • Coordinate, organize, and manage the grant submission timeline as well as follow-up with funders for grant submission denials.
    • Write, revise, proofread, and edit drafts including executive summaries, funding proposals, conclusions, and organization credentials

    Requirements:

    • B.A or equivalent or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level program focusing on non-profit management, social sciences, or similar field
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
    • Strong computer skills are preferred
    • Must be professional, mature and able to work alone or as part of team
    • Experience in research & writing proposals, preferably with grant writing but other transferable experience is also considered

    • Highly organized and detail-focused
    • Ability to work well and coordinate with a diverse team
    • Available to work remotely or onsite with a flexible schedule, 10-15 hours per week
    • Must pass a criminal background check
