Food Pantry Volunteers

Westmoreland Community Action (WCA) is a food pantry for the Westmoreland Food Bank providing individuals and families in need with a variety of fresh and non-perishable foods. As a volunteer, you will assist by assembling food boxes, onloading food boxes directly to participant vehicles, setting up and taking down staging area, and/or cleanup.

Our food distribution is every third Thursday of each month located at 5103 Center Drive, Latrobe, PA 15650. Operations begin at 8:00 AM and end after 2:00 PM when cleanup is complete. You are not required to be present for the entire operation. The schedule below provides more details of duties and not to be considered strict volunteer timeslots. Volunteer what time you have!

• 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM - Setup and food box assembly
• 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM - Food distribution and, if needed, food box assembly
• 2:00 PM to Until finished - cleanup

Closed toe shoes are required. This is an outdoor event. We operate rain or shine!

In order to volunteer, you will need to complete the volunteer packet that is supplied by the WCA human resources department or retrieved from the WCA website. Registering through Idealist does not secure your shift spot. Additionally, you will need to supply the WCA human resource department the following clearances:

• Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check,
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Check,
• National Sex Offender Registry Verification, and
• FBI Criminal History Report if you have NOT maintained a Pennsylvania residential address continuously for the past 10 years.

Instructions for obtaining the above clearances can be found in the volunteer packet supplied by the WCA human resource department or by retrieving the packet from the WCA website.
