    CASA Board of Directors

    CASA of Sonoma County seeks motivated and dedicated Board Members who will serve as knowledgeable ambassadors of our mission to advocate for abused and neglected children. Visit www.sonomacasa.org to learn more about our program or contact our Executive Director Heloisa Heinen at 707-565-6375.

    Mission Statement

    The Sonoma County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program is committed to serving abused and neglected children coming before the Juvenile Court for protection and rehabilitation services. The purpose of the CASA program is to humanize the complex child welfare system for the child victim by providing a trained volunteer who will act as a consistent role model, advocate, and potential life connection.

    CASA of Sonoma County is a tax-exempt, 501(c) (3) community benefit organization established to advocate for abused and neglected children under the care of the Sonoma County Juvenile Court. A member of the California CASA Association and the National CASA Association, CASA of Sonoma County functions according to rule 5.655 of the California Rules of Court, under the oversight of the Presiding Juvenile Court Judge.

    Job Description

    In Support of this mission, the members of the board of directors work hand in hand with the Executive Director as well as with each other in a respectful and cooperative way to enhance and support the growth of the agency.

    Board members are asked to:

    1. Volunteer 4-6 hours per month by attending board or committee meetings, speaking to community groups about CASA, and providing fundraising support

    2. Support the program’s community outreach efforts as an ambassador to the community on behalf of the organization while seeking out opportunities to speak to service groups, companies, churches, etc. to increase visibility for CASA, recruit volunteers for the organization and suggest funding opportunities

    3. Research corporate foundation and/or matching funds

    4. Assist in several events each year such as our annual fundraiser, open house, volunteer recognition, etc.

    5. Join one of the board committees, including Finance, Partners Program, Public Relations, Membership and Hearts for Children Dinner

    6. Assist in the recruitment, selection and training of new Board Members and in developing potential executive committee members

    7. Provide an annual financial contribution to the organization

    8. The Board of Directors operates as a cohesive team and consistently fulfills its commitments

    9. The Board and the Executive Director create a powerful, effective partnership that benefits the best interest of the organization
