The Ridge Ripple Effect is a free youth mentoring program being offered at The Ridge Teen Center at Bee Ridge Park. Our mission is to empower individuals through mentorship and service, recognizing that small acts of kindness, leadership and service can spark meaningful, far-reaching change. By investing in these efforts, we aim to create a ripple effect that drives lasting, positive impacts within our community and beyond.
Duties
Mentors will serve as positive adult role models, helping to foster personal growth, leadership development, and community engagement. Through hands-on participation in community projects, events, and team activities, mentors will inspire and guide youth to become confident, responsible, and active members of their community. This free program brings together mentors (18+) and mentees (ages 10-15) to build leadership, kindness, and community through mentorship and service.
- Build supportive, respectful, and trusting relationships with youth participants.
- Engage youth in a variety of community projects and service-learning activities.
- Encourage teamwork, responsibility, and leadership through positive role modeling.
- Assist in planning and implementing activities that promote civic pride, problem-solving, and life skills.
- Provide guidance and motivation to help youth set and achieve personal goals.
- Foster an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Communicate regularly with The Ridge Staff regarding youth progress and needs.
- Uphold all program policies, safety guidelines, and code of conduct standards.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Passion for working with youth and making a difference in the community.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model with integrity and respect.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to commit to scheduled activities.
- Previous experience in youth programs, coaching, or mentoring preferred but not required.
- Level 2 (Fingerprinting) background check required prior to placement.
Notes
- The Ripple Effect Program will run Jan - May 2026.
- Mentors will be required to attend the bi-weekly meetings on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Tuesday of every month from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.
- Mentors will also be required to participate in the monthly community service project with their mentee, which will take place on a Saturday.
