Artistic expression plays a meaningful role in the healing process, and we support young artists through programs in art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing, and more.
Job Summary
The Video Colorist plays a vital role in shaping the visual identity and emotional tone of A Free Bird’s multimedia projects. You will enhance video content through color correction and grading, helping bring creative concepts to life with high-quality, visually cohesive results. This is a collaborative, detail-oriented role ideal for someone passionate about storytelling through color.
Responsibilities
Color Correction & Enhancement
- Correct and balance color in raw footage using tools like DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro.
- Ensure accuracy in skin tones, lighting, and overall color palette.
Color Grading & Creative Vision
- Develop and apply grading styles that enhance mood, emotion, and storytelling.
- Use color theory and visual aesthetics to strengthen the narrative.
Collaboration & Creative Alignment
- Work closely with directors, editors, and cinematographers to understand project goals.
- Communicate clearly to ensure the final look matches the creative direction.
Visual Consistency & Quality Control
- Maintain continuous color and tone across all scenes and sequences.
- Review final content before delivery to ensure high-quality results.
Problem-Solving & Workflow Management
- Troubleshoot lighting inconsistencies, mismatched shots, and color artifacts.
- Manage multiple projects, stay organized, and meet deadlines efficiently.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of color theory, lighting, and visual storytelling.
- Familiarity with video codecs, color spaces, and export formats.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and a sharp eye for visual continuity.
- Creative mindset with the ability to enhance narrative through color.
- Prior experience in video post-production is preferred.
- A portfolio or demo reel showcasing relevant work is strongly recommended.
This is an internship role.
Internships are unpaid and for academic credit only. Applicants must be eligible to receive school credit.
Additional Information
- Minimum commitment: 3 months
- Hours: 5–10 per week
- Setting: Fully remote
- Must have a laptop, reliable internet, and availability for periodic video/phone meetings.
