Sexual and Reproductive Health

Village Exchange International (VEI) seeks dedicated volunteers to support its Reproductive and Sexual Health (RSH) Programme. The RSH programme aims to prevent early pregnancy and promote women’s financial independence through the provision of health services and education. The programme is run through VEI’s Youth Centre , a community site where young adults and teens can access educational / IT resources, participate in youth clubs and activities, and receive counselling in sexual health issues. Additionally, VEI conducts outreach programmes in villages and communities throughout Ghana’s Volta Region.

Volunteers work with a team of local staff to design, plan, and implement various RSH programme activities, both at the Youth Centre and in the field. Depending on volunteers’ skills and preferences, this may include the following:

• Conduct Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Research -- collect baseline data on knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs surrounding RSH in project communities; design and implement evaluation tools and methodologies (e.g. survey instruments, focus groups); and prepare reports for presentation to organization staff and funding partners.
• Serve as a Youth Group Leader -- organize participants into age-appropriate groups; create innovative lesson plans and curriculum materials; and facilitate group sessions in RSH education.
• Collaborate with the team to educate women about Reproductive Health Rights and to boost their self-esteem;
• Participate in Peer Education training workshops
