Maple Fest Volunteers

Sticky, sappy fun awaits at Maple Fest! Volunteers will help bring the sweet science and history of maple syrup to life during this drop-in, family-friendly program at the Downers Grove Museum. Throughout the three-hour event, volunteers will rotate through hands-on support roles that keep the experience engaging, safe, and fun for visitors of all ages.

Volunteers may assist with:

• Fire-side maple syrup demonstrations, helping staff tend the outdoor fire
• Tree biology and identification activities, guiding participants as they learn how to recognize maple trees and understand how sap flows
• Interactive games and educational stations, encouraging children and families to explore maple-themed activities and artifacts
• Artifact handling and interpretation, helping visitors engage with historical tools and materials used in traditional maple syrup production
• Guest engagement and flow, welcoming participants, answering questions, and helping families move between stations smoothly
• Handing out treats and clean-up, assisting with sampling and keeping activity areas tidy and stocked
• Program set-up and clean-up

Volunteers will play a key role in creating a warm, inviting atmosphere while helping visitors connect nature, history, and food through a uniquely hands-on experience.
