    Street-to-Social Media Volunteer

    Hybrid Volunteer Position (Los Angeles, CA)

    Dallas Pets Alive! is a highly respected animal rescue organization and provides the perfect place to utilize your skills to grow personally and professionally. Our mission is to promote and provide the resources, education, and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals in North Texas - and volunteers make our mission a reality.

    As our Street-to-Social Media Volunteer, you will represent Dogs Matter at events, street outreach activities, and partner gatherings connected with Project Street Vet in Los Angeles, CA (primarily in DTLA, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Atwater Village and Hollywood). You’ll help expand awareness of our mission by engaging the public, taking photos and video clips, and creating authentic, compelling content for social media. This role is ideal for someone who loves meeting people, enjoys capturing stories, and wants to play a direct part in helping unhoused pet owners access treatment without being separated from their beloved pets.

    Team: Dogs Matter

    Location:

    • Hybrid: Located in Los Angeles, California, able to attend in-person events and work virtually.

    Time Commitment: up to 15 hours per month

    Compensation: This is a Volunteer Position with no monetary compensation.

    Reports to: Dogs Matter Director of Operations and Executive Director

    Works with: Dogs Matter L.A. Recovery Coach, Marketing Team & Social Media Manager, Project Street Vet teams, and the public

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Attend 1-2 outreach events in DTLA and SELAH per month
    • Take high-quality photos and short videos during events
    • Document stories, interactions, and behind-the-scenes moments that highlight our impact
    • Draft captions and short narratives for social media posts
    • Present Dogs Matter and Project Street Vet’s mission with accuracy, empathy, and professionalism
    • Help reinforce trauma-informed, judgement-free communication when engaging with unhoused individuals
    • Collaborate and communicate with Marketing staff and volunteers

    Skills and Qualifications best suited for this position:

    • Comfortable interacting in diverse community settings, including outdoor environments.
    • Strong interpersonal communication and friendly, approachable demeanor.
    • Basic photography or smartphone photo/video skills; comfort being “on the ground.”
    • Familiarity with social media platforms and trends (Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook).
    • Ability to work independently and represent Dogs Matter professionally.
    • Compassion for unhoused individuals and people in recovery, and respect for the human–animal bond.
    • Dependability—consistent attendance at scheduled events is essential.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Proficiency with Gmail and G-Suite applications
    • Fluency in English; bilingual a plus!
    • Ability to operate a computer or mobile device
    • The following activities are required:
      • Ability to operate a computer and/or mobile device.
      • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
      • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
      • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
