Content Manager for Museum With No Frontiers online platform (data handling and upload)

Museum With No Frontiers (MWNF), founded in 1995, promotes peaceful coexistence between cultures trough better knowledge of history, art and cultural heritage. Since the beginning, the history and artistic legacy of Islam are at the core of most MWNF projects: our Islamic art database - including artefacts selected by our partner museums as well as monuments - constitutes the most comprehensive online resource in this field. Further activities focus on other areas of world culture. Our projects include online exhibitions, galleries, virtual tours and the development of our database. The MWNF team is composed by volunteers only including colleagues from across the globe. Our main working language is English.

We are now looking for a new colleague who is ready to join the MWNF team as content manager, a task that includes data management and upload and that requires very good general cultural knowledge and, ideally, also specific interest in the history and arts of Islam. Furthermore, it is mandatory to be very organised, to be an excellent communicator, to have a good writing style and to dispose also of the needed time. For this specific task we are looking for volunteers who can commit for at least two years and dedicate on average 20 hours per week to MWNF. Also retired volunteers are very welcome! The organisation of the work is flexible but we have deadlines (e.g. the online launch of a new exhibition) and depend on our partners (museums, libraries, etc.) who submit the material to be uploaded. After a familiarisation period, the task foresees also direct communication with our partners.

Last not least it should be mentioned that this opportunity is not restricted to a specific country or geographic area, but our future content manager can be located anywhere on the globe.

The opportunity requires several training sessions that would take place online and regular reporting. An agreement would be signed at the beginning of the cooperation.
