Accessibility Assistant Volunteer

Overview - This position assists the guests services team at the History Colorado Center in accessibility-related projects. Accessibility Assistants will assist with Low Sensory Mornings and Dementia-Friendly Tours as well as other projects on an as-needed basis.

Position Description:

Accessibility Assistants will provide support during Low Sensory Mornings and Dementia-Friendly Tours at the History Colorado Center. This may include helping with wayfinding, leading activities for families attending Low Sensory Mornings, and assisting with dementia-friendly tours. Additional opportunities may include administrative/office support in promoting these programs, researching accessibility best-practices, or representing History Colorado at community events such as sensory friendly events at other organizations.

Training will be provided on interacting with individuals with disabilities, specifically dementia and sensory-processing disorders. Additional training will be provided on topics such as customer service, exhibit content, general Colorado history, and basic museum education.

This role will provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to experience the History Colorado Center in a way that is safe and comfortable.
