Online Citizenship Tutor

Citizenship Coalition offers free online tutoring to citizenship applicants preparing for the USCIS interview, which involves an oral and written test as the last step in the naturalization process. Our volunteer instructors help people learn the civics questions and practice English speaking, reading and writing in individualized sessions. All online. All free!

Tutor training is quick and straightforward. Volunteers read a short handbook that explains the naturalization process and the USCIS interview. After that you attend an orientation online and get matched with a citizenship applicant preparing for the USCIS test.

Volunteers don't need any special language skills. The test is in English, and the tutoring is in English. You don't need any previous experience tutoring or knowledge of the naturalization process. We will teach you everything you need to know. All instructional materials are provided. Tutors and their matches generally meet for an hour once or twice a week for 4-6 months.
