    Commitment: 3–5 hours per week

Position Type: Unpaid volunteer internship for community service hours

Intended Applicants: Students interested in marketing, graphic design, advertising, communications, or digital media

    About Our Foundation

The Defeating Epilepsy Foundation® empowers individuals affected by epilepsy, neurological conditions, and neurodivergence through advocacy, education, and compassionate support. We work to reduce stigma, expand understanding, and help individuals live with dignity, purpose, and hope.

    Position Overview

Put your creativity to work for a meaningful cause! We are seeking students to help create engaging social media content and marketing materials that increase awareness of our foundation, connect people with resources, and encourage community support.

This opportunity allows students to gain practical nonprofit marketing experience, develop creative skills, and complete community service hours while contributing to our mission.

    Responsibilities

    • Design infographics and social media graphics highlighting educational resources, programs, and events.
    • Create and edit short videos, reels, and other digital content.
    • Develop promotional materials for fundraising campaigns, volunteer opportunities, and community outreach.
    • Help write captions, calls to action, and other marketing copy.
    • Contribute ideas for content that increases engagement and community reach.
    • Collaborate with foundation leadership and volunteers to maintain consistent branding and messaging.
    • Submit content for review and approval before publication.
    • Track completed projects and volunteer hours.

    Who We Are Looking For

    • Students interested in marketing, graphic design, advertising, communications, digital media, or a related field.
    • Creative individuals who enjoy visual storytelling and communicating ideas.
    • Reliable students who can dedicate 3–5 hours each week and meet agreed deadlines.
    • Individuals who communicate clearly, collaborate well, and welcome feedback.
    • Students committed to respectful, inclusive, and accessible content.

Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Adobe tools, or similar design and video editing software is helpful. Coursework, personal projects, and student organization experience are welcome—you do not need professional experience to apply.

    What Students Can Gain

    • Hands-on experience creating content for a nonprofit organization.
    • Opportunities to build a portfolio using approved projects.
    • Practice in branding, digital storytelling, and community engagement.
    • Feedback and collaboration with foundation leadership.
    • Documented community service hours.

Students seeking school recognition for their hours should confirm their school’s requirements before beginning. Academic credit is subject to approval by the student’s institution.

    Time Commitment & Expectations

Students will contribute 3–5 hours per week, with project assignments and deadlines coordinated around their availability and academic schedules. Interns are expected to communicate regularly, keep an accurate record of their hours, and handle any personal information shared during projects with care.
