    Volunteer remotely with Serenity Hospice!

Serenity Hospice's Portland (Oregon) Metro Office is looking for dedicated volunteers to help make weekly phone calls, then enter that information into an online form so our team can respond.

Please NOTE: We are in Oregon, so calls must be made on Pacific Time frames. As long as you can accommodate that, it doesn't matter where in the United States you are!

We are asking for a minimum time commitment of 1 hour per week for at least 6 months. Once you've completed volunteer onboarding and call-specific training, this volunteer position can be done 100% from the comfort of your home. "Tuck In" calls are typically made on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but can be made starting on Tuesdays if necessary. "Welcome Calls" can be made any day of the week except Sunday, during specific times in the Pacific Time zone.

Primary responsibilities are calling patients, their primary caregivers, or facilities for various needs, depending on the kind of calls you make. After each call, you would fill out an online form so we know how to follow up.

Skills and qualifications include speaking English fluently and clearly, taking good notes, having a private and quiet area to make the calls, having a comfort level with basic computer technology, and being able to make the calls on Pacific Time Zone times.

General hospice orientation is required even just for phone calls. It would be in person if possible, or remote via Teams (we don’t do Zoom) and takes about 8 hours plus additional time to read some materials before orientation. Orientation occurs during regular business hours (9am-5pm Pacific Time) Monday through Friday (no weekends or after hours). Call-specific training can be included in that time or can be scheduled for another time and takes approximately 1 hour.

Resources we provide are training and the Volunteer Coordinator being available for ongoing questions. You would need to have a computer with a good connection and a phone, but nothing else is required except your dedication and a willingness to serve.

This is an important way to support our patients and make a difference in your community!
