    Volunteer Opportunity: Grant Researcher

Organization: Canadian Conservation Photographers Collective (CCPC)

    Location: Remote

    About Us

The CCPC is a nonprofit collective of photographers and storytellers working to promote conservation and science education through compelling visual content.

Founded in 2021, we unite diverse skills and backgrounds to shed light on pressing environmental issues and inspire action for the natural world.

    Role Overview

The Grant Researcher will support CCPC’s efforts to identify and pursue funding opportunities that can help advance our conservation and education initiatives. The role focuses on identifying suitable funders and grant programs, assessing eligibility and alignment, and supporting the development of well-organized and competitive funding applications.

The Grant Researcher plays an important role in strengthening CCPC’s funding pipeline and helping connect the organization’s conservation, photography, and visual storytelling initiatives with appropriate sources of financial support.

    Responsibilities

    • Research and identify funding opportunities that support CCPC’s conservation, science and environmental education, photography, visual storytelling, and related mission-driven initiatives.
    • Review funder priorities, eligibility requirements, application guidelines, geographic scope, deadlines, and funding criteria to assess alignment with CCPC’s mission, programs, and organizational priorities.
    • Evaluate and prioritize grant opportunities based on strategic fit, funding potential, application requirements, and relevance to CCPC’s current and future initiatives.
    • Maintain an organized pipeline of prospective funders and grant opportunities, including key contacts, deadlines, eligibility requirements, application status, and follow-up actions.
    • Support the preparation of grant applications, letters of inquiry, proposals, and related funding materials by organizing information and helping develop clear, accurate, and compelling content.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other CCPC team members to gather project information, organizational data, budgets, supporting documents, and other materials required for funding applications.
    • Help ensure grant applications are complete, consistent with funder requirements, aligned with CCPC’s mission and messaging, and prepared within established deadlines.
    • Monitor upcoming funding opportunities and help build a sustainable grant pipeline that can support CCPC’s long-term conservation and educational impact.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of five years of experience in grant research, grant writing, proposal development, fundraising, or related funding activities in Canada.
    • Proven ability to identify relevant funding opportunities, assess eligibility and strategic fit, and interpret grant guidelines and application requirements.
    • Experience preparing or supporting grant applications, proposals, letters of inquiry, and related funding submissions.
    • Strong written communication, analytical, research, and organizational skills, with the ability to present information clearly and accurately.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple funding opportunities, deadlines, documentation requirements, and follow-up activities with a high level of attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with the Executive Director and other team members.
    • Familiarity with Canadian nonprofit funding sources, foundations, government grant programs, and grant research platforms is considered an asset.
    • Experience with funding related to conservation, science or environmental education, photography, visual storytelling, or related mission-driven initiatives is considered an asset.
    • Strong interest in conservation and alignment with CCPC’s mission and values.

    Benefits:

    • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful conservation initiatives.
    • Gain valuable experience working with a nonprofit organization.
    • Flexible remote work environment.
    • Collaborate with a passionate and supportive team.

Please note that only those candidates that meet all of the requirements for the role will be contacted.
