Manna Ministries, Inc. offers a supervised student service-learning and youth volunteer opportunity for high school students, dual-enrollment students, youth leadership students, and students seeking volunteer, community service, or service-learning hours. Students may gain practical exposure to nonprofit community service, community outreach, neighborhood engagement, youth and family support, food insecurity activities, community cleanup, civic engagement, and community-based events.
This opportunity is designed for students who want to serve the community, build leadership skills, develop reliability, understand basic nonprofit service, and support projects that strengthen neighborhoods and families in Macon-Bibb County. Activities will be supervised and adjusted based on the student’s age, school requirements, availability, skill level, approved service purpose, and Manna Ministries, Inc.’s program needs.
Students under age 18 must have parent/legal guardian authorization before beginning volunteer service. If selected, students under age 18 will be required to submit a completed Parental Authorization, Liability Release, and Reliability Agreement at or before orientation, and before beginning volunteer service. Students seeking service-learning hours or academic documentation must also provide any required school forms or written instructions at that time.
The student volunteer may support activities connected to community outreach, resident engagement, event preparation, youth and family programs, food distribution support, neighborhood cleanup, supply organization, meeting assistance, and other approved community service tasks. This opportunity does not create an employee-employer relationship and does not guarantee future employment or placement.
Responsibilities May Include
1. Assisting with community outreach and neighborhood engagement activities under supervision
2. Helping with event setup, registration tables, supply organization, and cleanup activities
3. Supporting youth, family, and community service projects as assigned
4. Preparing or organizing flyers, materials, sign-in sheets, forms, or activity supplies
5. Assisting with food distribution support or community resource activities as appropriate
6. Helping with neighborhood cleanup support, litter-reduction activities, or beautification efforts under supervision
7. Participating in approved meetings, workshops, trainings, or community events when scheduled
8. Following all safety instructions, conduct expectations, and supervisor directions
9. Maintaining confidentiality when handling forms, sign-in sheets, surveys, or personal information
10. Signing in and out when required so service hours can be accurately documented
Qualifications
1. High school student, dual-enrollment student, youth leadership student, or student needing volunteer, community service, or service-learning hours
2. Interest in community service, youth leadership, neighborhood engagement, nonprofit work, civic engagement, or helping families and residents
3. Ability to follow instructions and work respectfully with supervisors, volunteers, residents, and community partners
4. Dependability, punctuality, honesty, willingness to learn, and respectful behavior
5. Ability to communicate scheduling needs and notify the organization in advance if unable to attend
6. Parent/legal guardian authorization required for students under age 18 before service begins
7. School instructions or official forms required when service-learning hours or academic documentation are requested

Volunteer assignments will be supervised and may be adjusted based on age, school requirements, community activity schedule, safety considerations, and organizational needs. Manna Ministries, Inc. will not verify service hours that were not completed, not approved, or not properly documented.
