Join disABILITYsa at the Botanical Gardens for a sensory-friendly Illuminate experience! Help welcome guests and support an evening featuring our universal changing station, sensory room, quiet trails, and sensory kits available for checkout.

Event: 5:30–7:00 PM

Volunteer shift: 4:30–8:00 PM

We’re looking for 8 volunteers to help prepare our spaces, assist guests during the event, and pack up afterward.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Sensory Room Attendants — 2 volunteers

4:30–8:00 PM

Help maintain a calm, welcoming space where guests can take a break. Greet visitors, organize sensory materials, and support a quiet environment. A criminal background check and role-specific training are required.

Changing Room Attendants — 2 volunteers

4:30–8:00 PM

Welcome guests to the universal changing station, help keep supplies organized and the space ready for use, and respect guests’ privacy. Refer requests for assistance to disABILITYsa staff. A criminal background check and role-specific training are required.

Sensory Kit Checkout Station — 2 volunteers

4:30–8:00 PM

Assist guests with checking out and returning sensory kits, explain the checkout process, and keep kits and checkout records organized.

Guest Registration — 2 volunteers

4:30–8:00 PM

Welcome arriving guests, assist with registration, and share information about the sensory room, universal changing station, quiet trails, and sensory kit checkout.
