Better Than Yesterday Mentoring Inc. (BTYM) is seeking dedicated, caring mentors to join our Empower360 program — a transformative, bi‑weekly mentorship experience for high school students (grades 9–12) and recent graduates, ages 14–18, in Prince George’s County, MD.
Empower360 equips youth with the tools to thrive through personal development, identity building, life skills, and financial education (powered by our partner SECU MD). As a mentor, you’ll be a consistent, positive presence in a young person’s life — helping them set goals, build confidence, and navigate challenges.
Your Commitment:
- Meet with your mentee once a month in person (at a BTYM session or agreed‑upon safe location)
- Connect twice a week by phone, text, or video to check in, encourage, and guide
- Serve as a role model, active listener, and accountability partner
- Participate in mentor orientation and occasional check‑ins with BTYM staff

Program Schedule:
- Empower360 Sessions: Bi‑weekly Saturdays, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM (October 2025 – April 2026)

Cómo participar como voluntario(a) en esta oportunidad
To apply to become a mentor with Better Than Yesterday Mentoring Inc. for our Empower360 program, please complete the following steps:
- Complete the Mentor Application Form
- Fill out our online application here: https://forms.gle/Ypm6sqC2RgD14fPw9
- Be sure to answer all required questions thoroughly so we can get to know you and your mentoring style.
- Provide Any Relevant Experience (Optional but encouraged)
- Share examples of past volunteer work, youth engagement, or mentoring experience.
- If you have a résumé, you may upload it in PDF or Word format via the Google Form.
- Background Check
- All mentors must successfully complete a background check prior to being matched with a mentee. Instructions will be provided after your application is reviewed.
- Orientation & Training
- Selected applicants will be invited to attend a mandatory mentor orientation session before the program start date.
Special Notes:
- Mentors must be at least 21 years old.
- Commitment: Meet with your mentee once a month in person and connect twice a week by phone, text, or video from October 2025 – April 2026.
- Empower360 sessions are held bi‑weekly on Saturdays, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
