Position Overview:
The Website Manager is a vital volunteer role responsible for maintaining and updating the website for a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans and first responders in crisis. The Website Manager will ensure the site is up-to-date, user-friendly, and reflects the organization's mission and initiatives to provide resources, support, and information for those in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly update website content, including articles, news, and event announcements.
- Ensure website functionality, ensuring quick load times, accurate links, and user-friendly navigation.
- Implement design and structural updates to improve the website’s appearance and usability.
- Work closely with the marketing and communications teams to align the website with ongoing campaigns and initiatives.
- Monitor website performance, track user metrics, and make necessary improvements based on analytics.
- Ensure the website is optimized for search engines (SEO) to increase visibility.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues related to the website, liaising with developers or external resources as needed.
- Ensure that content is current and that outdated information is promptly removed or updated.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience managing or maintaining a WIX website, ideally for a nonprofit or cause-driven organization.
- Knowledge of web design principles, user experience (UX), and search engine optimization (SEO).
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues and collaborate with developers if necessary.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in working with cross-functional teams.
- Passion for supporting veterans and first responders in crisis and a commitment to the organization’s mission.
Qualifications:
- Experience with WIX
- Experience with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to measure site performance and user engagement.
- Graphic design skills or familiarity with design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, or other coding languages is a plus.
Time Commitment:
This is a flexible, remote volunteer position with the expectation of maintaining the website on an ongoing basis. Estimated time committment is 5 hours a week.
