MatchingDonors.com welcomes all volunteers for its opportunities, including individuals with F-1 status through Optional Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT).
MatchingDonors.com is seeking dedicated volunteer Real Estate Researchers to support the RealEstate4Kidneys.com program. As property donation leads come in from across the country, we need motivated individuals with research skills to evaluate each lead and determine whether the property is a viable candidate for donation to MatchingDonors.com.
This is a meaningful, flexible volunteer role that directly contributes to helping kidney patients and other transplant recipients find the donors they need to survive.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Receiving & Organizing Leads
- Review incoming property donation leads submitted to RealEstate4Kidneys.com
- Log and track each lead in the program's database or tracking system
- Communicate professionally with lead contacts as needed for additional information
Property Research & Due Diligence
- Conduct thorough research on each submitted property lead, including:
- Verify property ownership and title status
- Research estimated market value using public records, Zillow, Redfin, county assessor data, and other tools
- Identify any outstanding mortgages, liens, back taxes, or encumbrances on the property
- Review zoning classification and any land use restrictions
- Assess the general condition of the property based on available information
- Note any HOA obligations, easements, or environmental concerns
- Confirm the property is legally transferable as a charitable donation
Viability Assessment
- Evaluate whether each property meets MatchingDonors.com's criteria for a viable donation
- Summarize research findings in a clear, standardized report for program leadership
- Flag properties with complications (liens, negative equity, legal issues) for further review
- Recommend whether to accept, decline, or request further information on each lead
Reporting & Communication
- Submit completed property research reports to the RealEstate4Kidneys.com program coordinator
- Maintain organized, accurate records of all leads researched
- Participate in periodic check-ins or volunteer updates as requested
What We're Looking For
Ideal Background (any of the following is helpful)
- Experience in real estate, title research, property management, or related fields
- Background in paralegal work, legal research, or financial analysis
- Familiarity with public property records, county assessor databases, or MLS platforms
- Students studying real estate, finance, law, or business are welcome
- General research skills with strong attention to detail
Skills & Qualities
- Comfortable conducting online research using public records and real estate databases
- Strong written communication skills for summarizing findings clearly
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple leads at once
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting
- Genuine interest in supporting organ transplant patients and our mission
