    Digital Marketing Associate (Volunteer, Remote)

    Organization: A Free Bird | 501(c)(3) Nonprofit

    Location: Remote

    Position Role: Unpaid

    Commitment: 5–10 hours per week | Minimum 3–month commitment

    About A Free Bird

    A Free Bird is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New York City dedicated to empowering children diagnosed with cancer through artistic expression. Creative outlets play an essential role in the healing process, and we support children in exploring a wide range of self-expression, including art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing, and other creative mediums.

    Role Overview

    The Digital Marketing Associate supports A Free Bird’s outreach, engagement, and brand visibility efforts across digital platforms. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and external partners to develop content, execute campaigns, and monitor performance to strengthen awareness, engagement, and support for the organization’s mission.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the planning and execution of digital marketing campaigns across social media, email, and web platforms
    • Create, schedule, and manage digital content, including social media posts, newsletters, and campaign materials
    • Collaborate across departments to develop and gather marketing assets such as brochures, newsletters, special projects, and annual reports
    • Maintain and update digital content calendars and marketing databases
    • Monitor engagement metrics and assist with performance tracking and reporting
    • Support brand consistency across all digital communications and platforms
    • Assist with outreach and communications with partners, collaborators, and community stakeholders
    • Research digital marketing trends and best practices to inform strategy and content development

    Qualifications

    • 1–2+ years of experience in digital marketing, communications, or a related field
    • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or Business Administration preferred
    • Experience with content creation, social media management, and digital campaigns
    • Familiarity with digital marketing tools, analytics, and email platforms
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment

    Commitment Expectations:

    To help our teams collaborate effectively, all volunteers are expected to:

    • Commit at least 3 months
    • Contribute approximately 5-10 hours per week
    • Attend our 30-minute virtual team meetings every Tuesday and Thursday
    • Communicate proactively and work collaboratively with fellow volunteers

    We're looking for individuals who are excited to grow with the team and can consistently participate in our weekly meetings.
