    Descripción

Do you have a caring heart and a desire to make a difference in someone’s final chapter of life? Hospice volunteers bring comfort, connection, and dignity to patients and families during one of life’s most meaningful journeys.

At AHN Healthcare@Home, we are looking for compassionate individuals to join our volunteer team. Whether you have a few hours a month or a weekly commitment, your presence can make a lasting impact.

    Ways to Serve

    ✨ Supportive Presence

Be a calming presence in a patient’s life. Specially trained volunteers provide reassurance, companionship, and peace for patients and their loved ones in hospital, home, or facility settings.

✨ Caregiver Relief / Respite Sitter

Give caregivers a much-needed break by sitting with patients while loved ones run errands, attend appointments, or simply rest—bring just your caring presence.

    ✨ Hospice Friendly Visitor

Offer companionship to patients in nursing facilities or at home. Many patients face long days without visitors—your presence can brighten their day and ease loneliness.

    ✨ Administrative Volunteer

Help behind the scenes by supporting our hospice team with tasks such as preparing packets, making follow-up calls, or assisting with mailings.

    ✨ Bereavement Volunteer

Support bereaved families by creating mailings, updating newsletters, making calls, or visits.

    ✨ Veterans Helping Veterans

Are you a veteran? Your shared experience can provide comfort, dignity, and camaraderie to patients who have also served.

    ✨ Music Visitors

Share your voice or an instrument to bring comfort, spark memories, and create meaningful moments through music. Visits may be at the bedside in homes, inpatient units, or during group settings.

    ✨ Pet Visitors

Certified therapy animals (with their handlers) provide joy, companionship, and comfort to patients and families. A wagging tail or gentle nuzzle can brighten even the hardest days.

    ✨ Reiki Volunteers

Offer gentle, non-invasive Reiki sessions to support relaxation, peace, and emotional well-being for patients who welcome this calming practice.

    ✨ Special Talents

Do you have another skill to share? (e.g., art, storytelling, sports fan, beauty and personal care). We welcome creative ways to bring comfort and meaning to our patients.

    What We Provide

    • Comprehensive training and orientation so you feel confident in your role
    • Flexible schedules that fit your availability
    • All required health screenings and PPE at no cost to you
    • Ongoing support from the Volunteer Coordinator and hospice team
    • Membership in the Hospice Volunteer Network: a community of volunteers who share experiences, support one another, and learn with the hospice team.
