Job Overview:

The Assistant Design Manager will support the Design Manager in overseeing and executing design projects that align with the organization’s mission. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to create visually compelling and impactful designs for digital and print materials. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about using design to support social impact initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and execution of design projects, ensuring they align with the organization’s brand identity and mission.
• Collaborate with the marketing, content, and development teams to create visually engaging digital and print materials.
• Support the design of social media graphics, website assets, newsletters, presentations, and promotional materials.
• Conduct research on design trends and best practices to enhance the organization’s visual communications.
• Maintain organized design files and contribute to the development of brand guidelines.
• Work with external vendors, freelancers, and printers to ensure high-quality production of design assets.
• Assist in project management, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
• Provide creative input and contribute to brainstorming sessions for new campaigns and initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout design principles.
• Ability to take creative direction and translate concepts into visually appealing designs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Basic knowledge of UI/UX design and familiarity with Figma, Sketch, or similar tools is a plus.
• 4 years of experience in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
• Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is a plus.
• Portfolio showcasing previous design work is required.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Preferred Experience:

• Experience designing for social impact or wellness-related initiatives.
• Familiarity with branding and content marketing strategies.
• Knowledge of video editing or motion graphics is a plus.
