Your Service Dog Inc. (YSDI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing quality of life for people with disabilities by providing access to Full Potential Service Dogs: partners trained to perform beyond legal minimums to provide superior canine assistance. Through our proprietary Full Potential Method, comprehensive training programs, and expert support, we empower both dogs and handlers to reach their full potential, creating life-changing partnerships.
YSDI serves veterans, first responders, and individuals with physical or mental disabilities through multiple pathways: providing fully trained Service Dogs at no charge to recipients, and teaching motivated individuals to train their own dogs through our Full Potential Service Dog School. All programs emphasize dignity, security, and independence, helping clients achieve their full potential alongside optimally trained Service Dog Partners.
Position Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals
- Determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs), and attending strategy meetings
- Meet proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering writing, review, approval, and transmittal
- Enter and monitors tracking data
- Coordinates requirements with contributors and contributes proposal status information to review meetings
- Gather proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals
- Develop proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation
- Write, revise, and edit drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials
- Prepare presentations for grant donors as needed by evaluating relevant data, texts, and graphics
- Maintain quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; and maintaining proposal support databases
- Obtain approvals by reviewing proposal with key providers and project managers
- Create weekly reports on ongoing, completed, and expected projects for the executive and human resources departments
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience or certifications in grant writing or similar field, or willingness to acquire certification within a week of onboarding date
- Highly organized
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High speed internet connection
- Working electronic device (computer, laptop, or similar device)
- Interest in the nonprofit sector
- Commitment to the mission and goals of Your Service Dog, Inc.
- Proven reliability and ability to meet deadlines
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Strong command of the English language
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional preferred, but not required, qualifications:
- Provision of samples exemplifying grant writing experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, higher education experience, undergraduate diploma, and/or graduate diploma
