Title: Graphic Designer

Reports to: Director of Communications
The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating visual assets that reflect H.AAPI’s brand identity and amplify our programs, events, and community stories. This is a part-time role with flexible hours, ideal for someone who loves mission-driven design and wants to support AAPI community storytelling.
This role collaborates closely with the Director of Communications and Executive Director.
This is an unpaid volunteer position, with no stiped, compensation, or benefits
Responsibilities Include:
Brand & Visual Identity
- Maintain and evolve H.AAPI’s visual identity across all platforms.
- Ensure all designs reflect cultural sensitivity, accessibility, and community-centered values.
- Create templates and systems that make design consistent and easy for the team to use.
Content & Asset Creation
- Design graphics for social media, newsletters, events, workshops, and campaigns.
- Create flyers, posters, one-pagers, and digital assets for community outreach.
- Support visual storytelling through photo layouts, event recaps, and simple infographics.
Digital & Print Design
- Prepare assets for both digital and print use.
- Collaborate with printers or vendors if needed.
- Ensure all materials meet accessibility and readability standards.
Collaboration & Workflow
- Work with the Director of Communications to align visuals with messaging.
- Coordinate with program leads to design materials for events and initiatives.
- Manage a simple design workflow and maintain organized asset libraries.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience with graphic design (professional, academic, or portfolio-based).
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
- Strong sense of visual storytelling, layout, and typography.
- Ability to design for diverse audiences with cultural nuance.
- Organized, communicative, and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team.
- Commitment to uplifting AAPI communities and practicing culturally grounded design.
Time Commitment: 3 – 8 hours per week, flexible around your schedule, to be discussed with your supervisor
