Volunteer Opportunity: Adaptive Bike Camp Volunteer
Variety Texas is seeking volunteers for our 2026 Adaptive Bike Camp in Austin, TX.
Adaptive Bike Camp helps children with disabilities learn to ride a two-wheel bike in a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging environment. Volunteers work directly alongside riders throughout the week helping with encouragement, balance, transitions, hydration, and celebrating milestones as riders build confidence and independence.
No biking experience or prior experience working with people with disabilities is required. We provide training and support before camp begins. We’re looking for volunteers who are patient, encouraging, and excited to help create a welcoming experience for riders and families.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Walk or jog alongside riders during camp sessions
- Provide encouragement and support
- Assist with transitions and hydration breaks
- Help create a positive and inclusive environment
- Work collaboratively with camp staff and families
Physical Requirements
Spotters should be physically able to run alongside riders for much of the session and strong enough to help stabilize the bike and rider if needed to help prevent falls.
Commitment
Volunteers commit to:
- One 1-hour orientation on Sunday, July 12, 2026
- One consistent 1.5-hour shift each day during camp week (July 13–17, 2026)

- Teens and adults
- No biking expertise required
- Volunteers should be comfortable being active outdoors during camp sessions
