*Volunteer Opportunity: Court Observer – Community Legal Aid Support*

About the Role

The Washington West African Center is seeking committed volunteers to serve as Court Observers. This role is essential in helping us identify community members who may need free legal aid, including support with record‑clearing, driver’s license reinstatement, LFO relief, and other civil legal issues.

Court Observers help ensure that individuals—especially immigrants, refugees, and those facing systemic barriers—are connected to the legal resources they need to move forward.

What You’ll Do

• Attend district court sessions in person
• Observe hearings and identify individuals who may benefit from legal aid
• Share WAWAC resource information when appropriate
• Submit brief reports to our legal aid team for follow‑up
• Help bridge the gap between underserved community members and essential legal services
