Descripción
Help Believe in Me provide strong financial governance for programs serving underserved youth and young people, including scholarships, community partnerships, iLevelUP, Cougs 4 Kids, and Legacy Lounge.
The volunteer Board Treasurer leads board-level financial oversight and reporting while preserving the distinction between governance, accounting work, investment management, and staff operations.
Responsibilities:
- Review financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash position, reserves, controls, audits, filings, and significant financial risks
- Present clear financial information and questions to the board
- Coordinate appropriately with authorized leadership, accountants, auditors, banks, and finance or investment committees
- Support budget approval, policy review, financial controls, restricted-fund oversight, and audit readiness
- Ensure conflicts, recusals, delegated authority, and board approvals are documented
- Protect bank, payroll, donor, tax, investment, participant, and vendor information
- Avoid initiating transactions, moving funds, changing accounts, signing agreements, or directing investments without authorization
- Escalate suspected fraud, control failures, reporting errors, liquidity concerns, or compliance issues
- Complete governance, finance, safeguarding, and compliance training
Qualifications:
- Senior experience in accounting, finance, audit, banking, investments, nonprofit management, or financial governance
- Ability to interpret financial statements, budgets, controls, audits, and risk
- Strong integrity, judgment, communication, confidentiality, and independence
- CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent experience is helpful but not required
- At least 30 years old and willing to complete background, reference, and conflict checks
This is a remote governance role available within the United States. Expect approximately 6–10 hours per month.
