    Tour Guide (Docent)

    Lead small group tours on board the USS Potomac, Franklin D. Roosevelt's historic presidential yacht which is fully restored and open to the public at Jack London Square in Oakland. Lead tours onboard while on cruises in San Francisco Bay, during private charters of the ship, during student cruises of fifth graders, or dockside when the ship is not moving. Training and orientation are provided, as well as mentorship. No special skills are needed except a desire to share the history of the ship with the public, and the life and times of FDR, maybe enjoy a bit of history. Opportunities are also available to greet the public in the Visitors Center museum.

Or, you can put it in the mail to Potomac Association, 540 Water Street, Oakland, CA 94607.

    Once received, the volunteer coordinator will reach out to schedule your orientation. Training and shadowing of experienced docents helps you learn in our supportive environment. No prior knowledge of FDR or WWII history is needed.
