Site Coordinator Volunteers Needed - Statewide in Oregon

We’re looking for volunteer Site Coordinators to lead our programs at various sites around the state. To learn more about this special role, go to https://smartreading.org/volunteer/

Specifically, SMART Reading is recruiting Site Coordinators -- leadership volunteers who are vital to the success of the organization’s programs. From October through May, Site Coordinators provide program oversight during reading sessions, act as a key point of contact at SMART schools, and create a welcoming, organized environment for volunteer Readers and students. SMART simply cannot open programs and do their work without them.

The Site Coordinator role is an incredible opportunity to make a direct difference in the lives of both adult volunteers and students when they need the support more than ever.

    Volunteering with SMART Reading

    Site Coordinator: 2-8 Hours/Week

Site Coordinators are our leadership volunteers and act as a liaison between SMART and our site partners. This critical role involves training volunteer Readers, implementing in-person programming, and overseeing the program at their assigned site throughout the year.

If you would like more information about our program, please visit our website at https://smartreading.org/

The address listed on this site is for our SMART office in Portland. Please know that we do not accept walk-ins regarding volunteer opportunities at the office. Please do not come to our office unless you have a meeting scheduled with us, or are dropping off a book donation. Thank you for your understanding.

Book Bank - One-Time Volunteer Opportunities:

If you are interested in volunteering with The Children's Book Bank to help clean & refurbish community-donated books, we offer one-time service events through Hands On Portland. You are welcome to come in once or as often as you would like to sign up. We also have long-term volunteers (Book Stewards) trained in special areas who commit to a two-hour shift once a week.

If you have a community group (fellow nonprofit, service organization, or group of friends) of 6-20 people, please fill out this brief form or if your business is interested in bringing a group of 6 or more people (up to 20 people), please fill out this brief form and a staff member will follow up to schedule your group cleaning session.

If you are interested in organizing a book drive, please email bookbank@smartreading.org. Or if you are interested in volunteering in other ways, such as donating supplies or delivering books, please check out our website here.

Lastly, if you are interested in donating to SMART Reading, please go to Ways to Support SMART Reading for more information.
