Make a pawsitive impact and unleash joy as a Pet Therapy volunteer!
Fairview Southdale Hospital is seeking more pet therapy volunteers! We recognize Pet Therapy offers numerous benefits to patients and staff, such as emotional support, distraction, relaxation, social interaction, improved mood and outlook, and reduction of stress.
Pet Therapy Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Provide visits to patients/staff on identified units in Fairview Southdale hospital
- Ensure the animal is on-leash, and handler is always in control and attentive to the needs of the therapy animal while on the facility grounds
- Follow all current policies, procedures and guidelines regarding Pet/Therapy Animals in/on Fairview facilities and grounds
- Therapy animal must be a registered volunteer and wear an official identification badge
- Age Requirement: the handler must be 18 years or older
- We accept certifications from Pet Partners and Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Pet must be current on all vaccinations
- Time commitment: Two- hour shift each week
