CommonWealth Central Credit Union (CommonWealth) is seeking strategic, forward-thinking individuals to join its progressive and high-performing Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee. With a proud history spanning over 65 years and nearly 40,000 members across Santa Clara County and surrounding areas, CommonWealth is dedicated to enhancing the financial well-being of our members in the communities we serve.
Candidates must live or work in Santa Clara, San Benito, or Monterey County and share our passion for people-helping-people—a philosophy at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for someone who brings strategic insight, a strong understanding of board governance, and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a diverse, mission-driven team. As a board member, you will leverage your expertise in leadership, strategic thinking, and passion for the community. The ideal board member is committed to ensuring the financial safety and soundness of our membership and values contributing to boardroom discussions and decision-making processes. The successful candidate is a strong communicator with solid interpersonal skills, can easily connect with others, and has an appetite and desire to learn about credit unions and enhance their mission.

The average board member contributes a minimum of 100 hours a year to board and committee meetings and leadership conferences. You will have opportunities to participate in strategic planning sessions, community events, conferences, and board training seminars.

Directors are volunteers, and their contributions to the credit union are invaluable. Directors are provided with a health insurance reimbursement allowance, an iPad, and professional development and learning opportunities through numerous conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Each position is for a three-year term. Please note that in-person attendance is required for monthly Board meetings held at our San Jose, CA, Headquarters location.
