    Overview:

We’re inviting applications for a volunteer Grant Writer to take initiative identifying & applying for grant opportunities relevant to our student organizing campaigns. You will work closely with our leadership and campaign teams to broaden our understanding of the fundraising process, and develop funding proposals for foundational partners.

    In this role, you will:

    • Writing and implementing fundraising plans alongside the leadership team
    • Track foundational partners’ websites (in the democracy & student organizing space) for grant & program development opportunities
    • Attend funder briefings or other virtual events as needed to identify potential foundational partnerships
    • Advise leadership regarding funding opportunities, application requirements, deadlines, and support leadership to prioritize applications
    • Work with leadership to develop project budgets for priority campaigns for grant applications
    • Draft funding proposals in consultation with leadership and submit applications
    • Make sure we are in compliance with grant commitments and reporting requirements
    • Support our leadership team in developing relationships with funders by identifying networking opportunities, following up with potential foundational partners, and scheduling meetings

Are you a good fit for the role? We’re looking for someone with:

    • Capacity to work 10-15 hours/week on the above tasks
    • Ability to prioritize, plan for, and adhere to deadlines
    • Commitment to centering youth/students as we fight corruption, money in politics, attacks on our rights, and organize to win the democracy our generation deserves
    • Initiative, ability to problem-solve, and respond to a rapidly-evolving organizing landscape
    • Demonstrated experience in fundraising and financial management, preferably within the political or nonprofit sphere
    • Understanding of the political fundraising process, including knowledge of the difference between 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) non-profit designations

To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter over Handshake.

Academic credit can be arranged for eligible students.

About the Task Force for Democracy:

We’re a youth & volunteer-led team organizing students across 6 campaigns to demand a democracy that works for our generation — not billionaires & corporations! We work alongside movement partners to center young people in the fight against advancing autocracy.

We don’t focus on partisan politics or electing candidates. We organize to end inequities in our electoral system and win a democracy our generation can be proud of!

We know that true democracy cannot only exist at the ballot box, but must be present in the workplace, and in our education. Our campaigns aim to end structural inequality across different areas of our democracy, and include: fighting voter suppression & money in politics, organizing students under autocracy, stopping a dangerous constitutional convention that would roll back our rights, using transparency laws to hold power accountable, and more!
