What Student Volunteers Do
We offer a variety of ways for students to serve, based on your interests, comfort level, and schedule:
In-Person, Direct Support
- Visit and provide companionship to patients
- Read aloud, talk, play music, or simply sit in peaceful presence
- Provide emotional support to families
- Visit patients in their homes or long‑term care communities
Indirect or Creative Support (In-Person or Remote Options)
- Create legacy projects (memory books, letters, recordings, crafts)
- Make cards or comfort items for patients and families
- Assist with nonprofit outreach, events, or administrative projects
- Support bereavement or volunteer services teams with special assignments
Training & Support
No experience is required.
Amedisys provides free, comprehensive training to prepare you for your role. Volunteers receive ongoing guidance and support from the Volunteer Services Team.
