Be the Mentor You Wish You Had!! Mentor a Youth in Foster Care

In the Bay Area

We have many a youth in foster care and they are being left in the cracks by systems that doesn't know how to nurture them. These kiddos need stable, inspiring people in their lives to mentor them, to provide them with the attention and support they need once school hours are over. They need mentors who understand what they are enduring and will show them there's more to the world than the neighborhood they were born in.

Why Mentor?

Assist youth in making positive choices Explore careers and higher education

• Help improve youth's grades
• Assist youth's in setting goals for the future
• See new things and places, and have fun!
• Be a positive role model and friend
• Mentoring boys and girls is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community
• COMMUNICATION

What can you do?

• Mentors connect with a deserving child to help them see their potential.
• Focus Mentor is a role model and friend.
• Mentors take part in a community to raise the children where we each have a role.

How does it work?

• Mentors spend minimum of 1 hour per week with youth for a full year
• Focus on schoolwork
• Go to movies
• Sporting events or museums
• Simply talk and be a trusted friend

Without YOU, a youth will have less of a chance to succeed.
