Heartland Hospice of Circleville is seeking Vigil Volunteers to join our volunteer team!
Vigil Volunteer provide a compassionate presence for hospice patients who may be in their final hours or days of life. No one should have to face the end of life alone and vigil volunteers help ensure patients have comfort, companionship, and dignity during this sacred time.
As a Vigil Volunteer, you may:
- Sit quietly with patients during their final hours
- Provide a calming and reassuring presence
- Read, play soft music, or offer gentle conversation if appropriate
- Hold a patient's hand or simply be present
- Support family members by allowing them a brief opportunity to rest

This volunteer opportunity is ideal for compassionate individuals who are comfortable providing a peaceful presence and emotional support during a meaningful time in a patient's journey.
We offer flexible scheduling and will work with your availability. Whether you have a few hours monthly or weekly, your support can make a lasting difference. Vigil visits are typically arranged as needs arise and can vary in length.
No experience is required- We will provide all trainings at no cost!
To get started, we do require a background check, drug screening, TB testing, and fingerprinting. All costs are covered, and we'll guide you through each step of the process.
