A Hospice Cosmetology/Barber Volunteer

VITAS is looking for kind and caring licensed professional beauticians/barbers to pamper hospice patients living at home, long term care and assisted living facilities throughout San Diego. Pampering can include: gentle shampoo, cut, set and style; filing, polishing or buffing nails, facials or helping appy makeup. We are unable to provide coloring or perms due to our regulations. Help us improve the self image of our patients in their final days when they are unable to get to a salon. You may also provide these services to their caregiver who are unable to leave their loved one alone to go to a salon. A copy of your Cosmetology license must be kept on file.

All volunteers are required to attend a 1 hr Zoom from home AND a comprehensive in-person orientation to gain the knowledge you will need to work with terminally ill patients. TB screen and background check are also required and are provided by VITAS. Zoom orientation held 3x per month and in-person orientation every other month.

Continental breakfast and lunch provided.

There is also an option to complete orientation a via Zoom and self-study combination.
