Volunteer Grant Writer & SAM.gov Proposal Support (Remote)

    Organization:

    Lumoset Foundation – U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit

    Location:

Remote (open to U.S. and international volunteers)

    🌐 About Lumoset Foundation

Lumoset Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting vulnerable populations from digital harm. Founded by a former law enforcement officer who witnessed the real-world consequences of online scams, Lumoset focuses on digital literacy, fraud prevention, and public education. We’re building tools, workshops, and awareness campaigns that help individuals stay safe and informed in the digital world.

We are a volunteer-powered organization working to expand our impact and build sustainable operations through strategic fundraising and grant development.

    📝 About the Opportunity

We’re seeking volunteer grant writers to help us identify and apply for grants that align with our mission. Whether you're an experienced grant writer or just starting out, we welcome your support. We also have an opening for a Lead Volunteer Grant Writer to help manage this effort and support new team members.

You’ll work alongside our leadership team and play a direct role in helping Lumoset scale its impact.

    💼 Responsibilities

    • Research local, national, and international grant opportunities
    • Write and edit compelling grant proposals and supporting documents
    • Track deadlines and submission requirements
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and program staff
    • Optional (Lead Role): Review drafts, train interns, and manage submission workflow

    🕒 Time Commitment

    • Flexible hours; 3–10 hours per week depending on your availability and role
    • All work is remote and can be done on your own schedule

    💰 Stipend & Recognition

This is a volunteer-based position, but for those with grant writing experience, we offer a results-based stipend:

    • 10–15% of awarded grant amounts, structured as:
      • 50% upon official grant approval/award confirmation
      • 50% once funds are received by Lumoset

Those seeking experience only will not receive stipends but will receive mentorship, letters of recommendation, and portfolio support. This role is ideal for anyone looking to gain real-world experience or build their grant writing portfolio.

In addition to grant writing, we’re also seeking volunteers who are interested in — or have experience with — federal contracts through SAM.gov. Lumoset is a registered entity with an active SAM.gov account, and we’re beginning to explore small business and nonprofit contract opportunities that align with our mission of promoting digital literacy, online safety, and scam prevention.

These contracts aren’t just about bringing in funding — they’re a way to expand our outreach, deliver community programs, and support underserved populations using government-backed resources. Volunteers who assist with identifying and preparing contract proposals may be eligible for a results-based stipend from awarded contracts, just like our grant structure. This is a great opportunity for someone who understands (or wants to learn) how federal support can power mission-driven impact.

    ✅ Qualifications

    • Strong writing and communication skills
    • Organized and self-motivated
    • Experience in grant writing or nonprofit development is a plus
    • Comfortable working independently and communicating virtually
    • For the Lead role: some experience with grant strategy or team coordination preferred

    🌱 What You’ll Gain

    • Direct impact on a growing nonprofit
    • Portfolio-ready writing samples
    • Professional references from our leadership team
    • A chance to work with mission-driven people protecting real lives from online harm
