    Event Tabling Volunteer

MNeurodivergent is seeking Event Tabling Volunteers to support our outreach and visibility at community events across Minnesota. Tabling volunteers help staff MNeurodivergent booths at festivals, Pride events, resource fairs, conventions, and other public gatherings—sharing information about our mission, connecting with community members, and helping us create welcoming spaces for neurodivergent individuals.

This is a public-facing, community outreach role ideal for volunteers who enjoy talking with people, sharing resources, and helping represent an inclusive nonprofit in a friendly and supportive environment. Tabling shifts are typically worked in pairs or teams, and volunteers are supported with materials, signage, and clear guidance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Outreach & Public Engagement

    • Staff MNeurodivergent’s booth/table at community events (festivals, Pride, conventions, resource fairs, etc.)
    • Welcome attendees and share information about MNeurodivergent’s mission and programs
    • Answer common questions and direct people to resources, volunteer info, or upcoming events
    • Help ensure the booth environment feels friendly, inclusive, and affirming

    Booth Support & Organization

    • Assist with setup and takedown of tabling supplies (tablecloths, signs, displays, flyers, etc.)
    • Help keep materials organized and restocked during the shift
    • Support basic tracking needs when requested (ex: attendance estimates, common questions, supply needs)

    Teamwork & Communication

    • Coordinate with the tabling lead or event organizer for shift instructions and expectations
    • Work collaboratively with other volunteers to cover breaks, transitions, and attendee flow
    • Communicate any concerns or support needs to the lead volunteer

Optional Responsibilities (Based on Comfort Level)

Volunteers may opt in to additional support depending on comfort and availability:

    • Helping with merchandise display or simple point-of-sale support (with training)
    • Helping to guide visitors toward sensory space areas (when present)
    • Supporting a volunteer runner role (bringing supplies, restocking, etc.)

    Qualifications

    • Passion for creating welcoming, affirming spaces for neurodivergent individuals
    • Friendly and respectful communication skills
    • Comfort interacting with the public (with support from teammates)
    • Ability to follow simple instructions and represent MNeurodivergent professionally
    • Reliable and punctual for scheduled shifts
    • Experience in outreach, customer service, or event volunteering is helpful but not required

    Accessibility & Support

We welcome neurodivergent volunteers and recognize that public-facing outreach can be challenging. Volunteers are encouraged to:

    • choose shorter shifts when needed
    • request a paired shift or quieter role at the table
    • take breaks as needed
    • We aim to create supportive environments where volunteers can contribute in ways that work for them.

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible, event-based volunteering
    • Most shifts are 2–4 hours (varies by event)
    • Events often occur on weekends, with some weekday/evening opportunities depending on the season

Volunteers may sign up for as many or as few events as they’d like.

    Benefits of Volunteering

    • Help reduce isolation by connecting people to neurodivergent community and resources
    • Gain experience in outreach, nonprofit representation, and event volunteering
    • Be part of a friendly, inclusive volunteer team
    • Support a growing statewide Minnesota nonprofit with real community impact
