Volunteer Position: Finance Analyst
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours/week (add 20 to visa letter, consider other duties) Duration: 3–5 months
Location: Remote (occasional local event attendance optional but welcomed)

Position Overview
As a Finance Analyst, you will play a key role in helping YP1st make data-informed financial decisions that support sustainable impact. You’ll work closely with leadership to bring structure, clarity, and insight to our numbers so we can better plan, grow, and communicate the story behind our resources.
Key Responsibilities
Youth Opportunity & Engagement Support
- Support budgeting and forecasting for programs, events, and organizational operations
- Build and maintain simple financial models to project cash flow and runway
- Analyze historical and current revenue streams (grants, donations, sponsorships, events) to identify trends and opportunities
- Help define, track, and report key financial KPIs (e.g., cost per program, revenue by channel, fundraising efficiency)
- Prepare clear, visual summaries of financial performance for the Board and potential funders
- Assist in creating and refining basic financial policies, processes, and templates
- Partner with fundraising and programs teams to evaluate ROI for campaigns and initiatives
- Flag risks, variances, and opportunities proactively and suggest practical actions
- Help ensure financial data is organized, accurate, and easy to reference
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Comfort with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) and basic financial modeling
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to translate numbers into clear insights and simple stories for non-financial stakeholders
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong sense of ownership, reliability, and follow-through
- Ability to work independently while collaborating well with a small, mission-driven team
- Interest in nonprofits, youth development, or social impact is a plus
- Prior experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, or data/financial analysis is helpful but not strictly required
