Hospice Companionship Volunteer – Stillwater & Cushing

Luminos Hospice is seeking compassionate Companionship Volunteers in Stillwater and surrounding communities to provide friendship, conversation, and meaningful connection to hospice patients.

You don’t need healthcare experience to make an impact. Sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone is your time, your presence, and a listening ear.

What might a volunteer visit look like?

Every patient is different! Depending on the patient's interests, you might:

• Sit and visit over a cup of coffee
• Listen to stories and favorite memories
• Look through family photographs together
• Read aloud, play cards, work on puzzles, or listen to music
• Enjoy a simple craft or shared hobby
• Help create a Life Story Book by recording memories, life experiences, family stories, accomplishments, favorite things, and words of wisdom
• Simply provide a friendly and comforting presence

No medical experience is required. Companionship Volunteers do not provide medical care, personal care, toileting, feeding, transferring, or other hands-on assistance. Your role is companionship.

Flexible Opportunities

We understand that our volunteers have jobs, families, school, and other commitments. We work to match volunteers with patients based on their location, availability, interests, and comfort level. You always have the flexibility to accept or decline a volunteer opportunity.

Opportunities are available throughout Stillwater and surrounding communities, including Cushing, Perkins, Fairfax, Pawnee and nearby areas.

Whether you have a few hours each month or would like to visit someone regularly, your time can make a meaningful difference.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for adults who are compassionate, dependable, patient, respectful, and comfortable listening to and connecting with others. Hospice experience is not required—Luminos Hospice provides orientation, training, and ongoing support.
