Pre Med Students - Volunteer with Purpose & Impact Lives of hospice patients!

NorthStar Home Hospice has opportunities throughout Greater Cincinnati for pre-med students who want to make a difference while interacting with patients and families facing terminal illnesses, learning about palliative care, and strengthening your communication and empathy skills. Additionally, hospice volunteer experience can be beneficial for medical school applications and your future career in medicine!

Some of the ways YOU can impact the lives of patients and families:

• Providing companionship
• Reading aloud to the patient or listening to music together
• Looking at photos together and sharing memories (life review)
• Sitting with a patient so caregivers have free time (respite)
• Journaling or scrapbooking (helping the patient record their history)
• Watching movies or playing games
• Practical support
• Simply being present

Volunteers are an integral part of our hospice team! We provide ongoing support, comprehensive orientation/training, and screenings at no cost to you. Once you complete your orientation and screenings, we will strive to assign you close to your home, school, or work, and based on your schedule and available.
