    About the Organisation

Women in Leadership (WIL Uganda) is a grassroots, women-led organisation based in Busembatia, Eastern Uganda.

Our mission: to dismantle inequality and empower women and girls to exercise their rights, build independence, and lead within their communities.

    About the Role

As a Youth Media & Journalism Volunteer Intern, you will support the Teen Voices Journalism Project, working with girls to create and share stories about their lives, communities, and experiences.

This project is delivered in partnership with Teen Voices (New York), where selected articles are edited and published internationally.

You will help girls build confidence in storytelling, communication and digital expression.

    • Support girls to write articles and tell their stories
    • Facilitate creative workshops in journalism and storytelling

    • Collect stories, photos and videos from community activities
    • Contribute to content creation for WIL’s platforms

    What You’ll Gain:

    • Hands-on experience in journalism, storytelling and media
    • Experience working on an international youth media project
    • Digital content creation and communication skills
    • Leadership and facilitation skills
    • A professional reference and certificate upon completion

    • Experience managing creative projects in a global context

    Requirements

    • Enrolled in or completed a university degree
    • Interest in journalism, media, communications, or international development

    Girls Who Lead Global Bursary

We believe opportunity should not depend on income.

10% of every volunteer’s fundraising contributes to the Girls Who Lead Global Bursary, which fully funds a young woman (18–30, UK-based) from a low-income or underrepresented background to join the programme.

    Every cohort funds the next.
