Office Volunteers for Hospice Needed!

Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of home-based and hospice care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life companionship to local hospice patients and their families and support for healthcare workers.

Office volunteering includes

• Writing patient birthday cards
• Assembling admission packets
• Supporting volunteer department in recruitment and retention efforts
• Assist sales in assembling marketing materials
• Tuck-in calls: Calls placed to check in on patients and document needs nursing staff may need to know about between regular visits.

Bereavement volunteering includes:

• Writing sympathy cards
• Creating bereavement guides
• Assembling grief support packets
• Keepsake projects for remembrance
• General office assistance for the bereavement department
• And much more!

This is an exciting opportunity for those who want to learn more about hospice, home health, and elder care. You will have access to the entire clinical team and will be able to learn about the hospice process.

Current shifts are mornings and afternoons Monday-Friday. Additional volunteer opportunities can take place on weekends remotely if desired. Our volunteer opportunities take place at our office location in Des Plaines, IL.

The onboarding process includes a background check and fingerprinting to maintain compliance with the Illinois Department of Public Health. A hospice volunteer must be 14 years old to participate according to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines.
