    About Us

Children Striving Together is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mentorship, resources, and positive outlets for youth in underserved communities. Our mission is to create safe, empowering environments that foster personal growth, creativity, and long-term success, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.

    Position Overview

Children Striving Together is seeking dedicated and experienced Advisory Board Members to provide strategic guidance and thought partnership in support of our mission. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about youth development and community impact, and who are looking to contribute their expertise in a meaningful yet flexible capacity. Advisory Members play a critical role in strengthening organizational strategy, expanding networks, and supporting sustainable growth.

    Areas of Focus

We are particularly interested in individuals with demonstrated interest or expertise in the following areas:

    • Programming & Curriculum Development: Provide insight into the design, evaluation, and continuous improvement of youth-centered programs and educational curricula that align with CST’s mission and impact goals.
    • Events & Experiential Activations: Offer guidance on planning, executing, and enhancing events and immersive experiences that engage youth, families, and community stakeholders.
    • Community Outreach & Partnerships: Support efforts to build and strengthen strategic partnerships with community organizations, schools, and local leaders to expand CST’s reach and impact.
    • Fundraising & Sponsorships: Advise on fundraising strategies, corporate sponsorship opportunities, and revenue diversification to ensure long-term organizational sustainability.
    • Donor Retention & Engagement: Contribute ideas and best practices for cultivating meaningful relationships with donors, enhancing engagement strategies, and improving long-term donor retention.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide Strategic Guidance: Offer thoughtful, high-level input and recommendations to help inform organizational priorities, program development, and long-term growth strategies.
    • Participate in Advisory Meetings: Attend and actively engage in quarterly advisory meetings, contributing insights, feedback, and collaborative discussion with fellow members and leadership.
    • Leverage Professional Expertise: Share knowledge, experience, and industry best practices within your area of expertise to strengthen CST’s initiatives and operations.
    • Facilitate Connections: Utilize your professional network to introduce CST to potential partners, supporters, sponsors, or collaborators when appropriate.
    • Support Initiatives as Available: Participate on an optional basis in events, campaigns, or special initiatives, offering additional support aligned with your interests and availability.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated passion for youth development, community engagement, and creating equitable opportunities for underserved populations
    • Interest in contributing to a mission-driven organization without the time commitment of a governing board role
    • Strong professional experience, network, or lived experience that can add meaningful value to CST’s strategic efforts
    • Ability to think critically and strategically, offering constructive insights and actionable recommendations
    • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to engage, advise, and support organizational leadership

    What We Offer

    • Meaningful Impact: The opportunity to directly contribute to programs and initiatives that positively impact the lives of youth and families
    • Professional Networking: Build and strengthen relationships with nonprofit leaders, community stakeholders, and fellow professionals across industries
    • Flexible Leadership Experience: Engage in a respected advisory role that offers leadership exposure without a significant time commitment
    • Community Engagement Opportunities: Receive invitations to CST-hosted events, activations, and special initiatives throughout the year
    • Recognition & Visibility: Gain visibility through CST platforms, including participation in a professional team photoshoot and potential feature opportunities

    Expectations

    • Commitment to serving in an advisory capacity for a minimum of one year
    • Attendance and active participation in quarterly advisory board meetings
    • Light, flexible engagement outside of meetings, based on individual availability and interest
